Restoring a Map View Coordinate Reference System

After importing data that does not have an assigned coordinate reference system (CRS), the data will be displayed in its own local coordinate reference system. This might happen, for example, when importing an elevation grid data file or HEC‑RAS model into the project. As such, only the loaded data will be shown in the Map View. The other data layers lie in a different projection of the Map View and are not directly visible.

Follow these steps to restore the Map View CRS so the other data layers are visible:

  1. Select one of the data layers that has been assigned the project CRS from the Map Data Layers panel.
  2. Right-click and select Zoom to Layer Extents from the displayed context menu.
  3. The Map View will now switch the selected data layer CRS.
  4. Confirm that the correct CRS has been restored by looking in the lower right corner of the application and examining the CRS that is listed.
