Network License Server Connectivity Issues

This article describes the scenario where the software was previously connecting to the Network License Server but suddenly fails to connect.

If the software is unable to connect to the Network License Server and you are receiving the above error message, one of the following may be the cause:

  1. The computer that the Network License Server is installed on is not running.
  2. The Network License Server is not running.
  3. There is a network connectivity issue.

To fix this problem, try these options:

  1. Click on the [Try Again] button.
  2. Check that the computer that the Network License Server is installed on is running.
  3. Check that the Network License Server is running.
  4. Make certain that the computer that the Network License Server is installed on has a static IP address. See this article on how to set a static IP address.
  5. Ping the computer that the Network License Server is installed on (see the section below).

How to Ping the Network License Server

The Ping command can be used to check the network connection to another computer, such as the computer that the Network License Server is installed on. The following video demonstrates how to use the Ping command.

Follow these steps on how to ping the Network License Server:

  1. Display the Windows Run dialog box by pressing the Win + R keys (the Windows key and the “R” key at the same time) on the keyboard. This will display the Windows Run dialog box.
  2. Type Ping X and replace “X” with the actual static IP address of the computer in which the Network License Server is installed on. For example, if you wanted to ping the IP address 192.168. 0.201, you would type Ping 192.168. 0.201.
  3. Check the response from the Ping command to make certain that the computer is responding properly.
