Georeference Lateral Structures Command

The Georeference Lateral Structures command allows the user to automatically map lateral structures to the desired locations by snapping, sliding, or by drawing an alignment polyline on the Map View. This command can also be used to georeference an existing lateral structure and generate more accurate calculations.

The following options are available for georeferencing lateral structures:

  • Snap to Alignment Polyline
  • Slide along Alignment Polyline
  • Draw on Map View

Follow the steps given below to use the Georeference Lateral Structures command:

    1. From the Input ribbon menu, click the Lateral Structures menu item and select the Georeference Lateral Structures command.

    2. The Georeference Lateral Structures dialog box will be displayed.

The following sections describe how to interact with the above dialog box.

Select Lateral Structure to Georeference

This section allows the user to interactively select lateral structures by georeferencing them on the Map View.

Follow these steps to select the lateral structure from the dialog box:

    1. Select the river from the River name dropdown combo box.
    2. Select the corresponding reach from the Reach name dropdown combo box.
    3. Select the corresponding lateral structure from the Lateral structure river station dropdown combo box.

Alternatively, the user can interactively select the lateral structure from the Map View. To select the lateral structure, follow these steps:

    1. From the Lateral structure river station entry, click the [Pick] button.
    2. The Georeference Lateral Structures dialog box will temporarily disappear, and a prompt will be displayed on the status bar directing the user to select the lateral structure that is to be georeferenced.

    3. Select the lateral structure on the Map View.
    4. The Georeference Lateral Structures dialog box will be redisplayed along with the Lateral structure river station value. The software will automatically select the corresponding river and reach in the River name and Reach name dropdown combo boxes.

Snap to Alignment Polyline

This section allows the user to snap a lateral structure to an existing alignment polyline on the Map View.

Follow these steps to snap an alignment polyline for lateral structure on the Map View.

    1. Choose the Snap to Alignment Polyline option. Click the [Pick] button.
      Note that the Snap to Alignment Polyline option is selected by default when the dialog box is displayed.

    2. The Georeference Lateral Structures dialog box will temporarily disappear, and a prompt will be displayed on the status bar directing the user to select the alignment polyline for lateral structure.

    3. Select an alignment polyline on the Map View for lateral structure.
    4. The Georeference Lateral Structures dialog box will be redisplayed.
      Note that the status of the Select alignment polyline will be changed to Selected.
    5. Click the [Snap] button. The alignment polyline for the lateral structure will get snapped.

Slide along Alignment Polyline

Follow these steps to manually slide a lateral structure along the alignment polyline:

    1. Choose the Slide along Alignment Polyline option. Click the [Slide] button.

    2. The Georeference Lateral Structures dialog box will temporarily disappear, and a prompt will be displayed on the status bar directing the user to select the lateral structure and drag it along the underlying alignment polyline.

    3. Click and drag the lateral structure on the Map View to revise its alignment.
    4. When finished, press the [Enter] key or right-click and select Done from the displayed context menu.
    5. The Georeference Lateral Structures dialog box will be redisplayed.

Note:

  • The lateral structure must overlay a continuous alignment polyline for this option to work.
  • The user can use the Snap to Alignment Polyline option first and then use the Slide along Alignment Polyline option.

Draw on Map View

This section allows the user to draw an alignment polyline for lateral structure placement and automatically snap the selected lateral structure.

Follow these steps to draw an alignment polyline for lateral structure on the Map View:

    1. Choose the Draw on Map View option. Click the [Draw] button.

    2. The Georeference Lateral Structures dialog box will temporarily disappear, and a prompt will be displayed on the status bar directing the user to draw the alignment polyline for lateral structure placement.

    3. Draw the alignment polyline for lateral structure placement on the Map View.
    4. When finished, press the [Enter] key or right-click and select Done from the displayed context menu.
    5. The Georeference Lateral Structures dialog box will be redisplayed, and the lateral structure will automatically snap to the drawn alignment polyline.
